Visitors to WDW's Downtown Disney got a sweet surprise this week. The soft opening of the radically revamped "Goofy's Candy Company" store.

Oh, sure. Maybe you remember DTD's old "Goofy's Candy Co." A smallish but fun shop. Well, the new version of "GCC" (Which is located where the old "Disney at Home" store used to be) is a showplace. Big, bright, shiny ... and popular.

Man, is this place popular! I was in "Goofy's Candy Company" last night and the place (Which isn't supposed to officially open 'til May 2nd) was absolutely packed.

By that I mean: I had to hang around this Downtown Disney Store for more than an hour before I could get clear shots of the various stations in "Goofy's Candy Company." That's how many people were crowded into this shop on a Tuesday night.

Of course, that might have had something to do with that "Goofy's Glacier" machine. Where people could build their own kooky Disney-themed container (EX: A Goofy-hat top with a Stitch-feet base) and then fill that container with a flavored Slushie.

"What sort of flavored Slushie?," you ask. Well, given that this is a Goofy-themed store, you can get an "Orange you Happy Orange," a "Gawshly Berry Blue" and a "Goofy's Glacier Green."

Mind you, the "Goofy's Candy Company" do-it-yourself theme continues with the build-your-own snack station. Where you actually select your starter item (EX: An apple, a Rice Krispy treat, a pretzel or a gingerbread man), slather on a sauce (EX: Caramel, milk chocolate or white chocolate) and then top that with ... Well ... a topping (EX: Oreo Cookie crumbs, mini-M&Ms, crushed Butterfingers, etc.)

Obviously, that's some superior snacking. But then -- when you add in the cool "Goofy's Candy Company" collectible tins and the Pucker Station ...

... this new Downtown Disney retailtainment establishment is sure to be a hit with all you Disneyana fans out there who have a sweet tooth.

By the way, if you're a big Goofy fan, you may want to swing by this DTD shop early early this morning. How come? Because Goofy himself is supposed to be appearing at the store's official dedication ceremony. Which (according to the cast members who were working in the store last night) is reportedly being held this morning at 8:30 a.m.

Anyway ... If you're looking for sweet new place to visit the next time you're at Downtown Disney, be sure and swing by "Goofy's Candy Company."
