To me the answer to this type of situation seems simple. IGNORE IT! Unless I am niave (there is a chance) surely the majority of the public realizes that the Disney Co. is not responsible for some star's actions past or present. The pics weren't really worth the Mouse getting stressed over anyway, they were nudity not porn. Majority of the public are a lot mre forgiving and forgetful of much bigger scandals than this.

i agree Disney should just ignore it. It is nothing new for a star to take pictures of themselves naked. Besides they are nude pictures is not like they ar in some kind of pornography act.

If Harry Potter could do a whole stage show in the nude and still be able to carry a major franchise then this actress should be ok to carry a franchise like High School Musical. I think Vanessa is too valuable to High School Musical for Disney to just drop her. She made a stupid mistake in taking the photos, she learned a big lesson, and everybody should move on. From what I understand, those pics were taken a few years ago, before she was even signed on to HSM. As for Vanessa herself, I don't think her talk of being a role model is fake. I really do think she is a good girl that is unfortunately being judged from a decision she made a few years ago. I am confident that this will pass over in a few days and everything will work out between Vanessa and Disney.

I don't think that Disney will drop her- as boblive77 said. Gabriella is the favorite character of so many little girls, and they'd be heartbroken if the real Gabriella didn't come back for HSM3. I hadn't heard anything about a 4th HSM being made, though...that'd be cool...

Who leaked the initial picture(s)? If Drake did indeed get other photos, hopefully no one else has them, and, if he still has them, I'm sure he has enough class to withhold them from the public.

I too think that Vanessa Hudgens is too important to HSM for Diseny to let her go. Writing her out would upset the vast majority of plans and replacing her would upset them more, not to mention they'd hate the new Gabriella. Class and Hollywood never really go well together. However, Ms. Hudgens has learned that no matter how private one thinks something is, once you enter the limelight that is Hollywood, nothing is private anymore. If Julie can bare hers in S.O.B. and still be Queen Clarisse in The Princess Diaries, and Anne Hathaway showed hers in both Havoc and Brokeback Mountain and Disney has no problem playing both installments of The Princess Diaries on TDC, not to mention Hathaway's turn in Ella Enchanted, which was programmed last month, then Vanessa's "myspace-style" shot shouldn't prevent her from being in future HSM installments. What it will do is prevent her from being a hold-out because leverage has just been given to Disney in the contract negotiation with this situation.

As far as this photo goes, it is a simple tasteful nude. As a Disney fan, I was not offended by it, nor did I see anything wrong with it. The really bad person is the one who posted this photo on the internet without Vanessa's permission. If Disney allows this photo to remove Vanessa from the High School Musical franchise, they are only adding to the misery of a young actress who has already been victimized by the poster. In my view Vanessa has done nothing wrong, and I continue to support her.

Regarding any other nude photos that may exist, they would have to be judged by Disney, based on the nature of the photo. Again, if they turn out to be simple, tasteful, nudes, I see no problem.

I don't see any inconsistency with the idea that if it was just the one time she could be forgiven, but that if it's the beginning of a pattern of behavior that Disney has to do what's necessary to protect it's franchise. It is in the end a business decision.

Disney should tread carefully, however. I know nothing about this franchise or the star herself, but everything I've read suggests that both are extremely popular. Are the fans likely to be offended by whatever it is that has Disney so worried? And if not, how do you think they'll react if she's punished by Disney for it?

I think the much, much, MUCH bigger question has to do with how old she was when the photos were taken, and who was involved in helping her do it. As I understand it, this young lady is just 18. I have heard nothing about when the one photo already public was taken, but Jim you allude to other pictures taken "long before" she took on her current HSM role. The implication is that she was underage at the time, which as jason71 pointed out would make such photos illegal. Which is another reason for Disney to walk on eggshells -- they may very well be poised to publicly punish this girl (or "child", as I can easily imagine her publicity and legal teams to start referring to her) for being a victim of one of the most heinous crimes recognized by society. Ouch.

This is a tough call .... but the rumored additional photos cannot be simple, tasteful, nudes .... becasue I don't know of anyone who thinks that anyone under the age of 18 should be taking nude pictures at all. Specificaly if they are sending them to boys for fun.

She needs to be ashmed of herself if that is the type of thing she did when she was younger (pre HSM).

That said ... shame on the guy she sent them to for telling someone or letting the word get out.

If shes loses her job .... it may be a little harsh ... but you still gotta pay for your mistakes somehow.

Comicsfan has it exactly right. The real problem Disney needs to be concerned with is the dirtbag who leaked this on to the internet. Vanessa is just being exploited like every other female star on some level. What's the difference between her taking a photo for her boyfriend and an actress being nude in a movie? What so the other one is ART so it's ok? It doesn't change the content of HSM a bit and that's what they really care about. Now who is evil enough to try and sabotage her career is a much bigger issue for the mouse because here are some key details the press has revealed:

* It was a betrayal of trust.

* Those pictures were intended for her boyfriend, Zac Efron.

* You know, the guy who didn't want HSM3 to be made, manipulated Vanessa into being a co-diva during filming of HSM2, and some rumors peg as being less than interested in the ladies.

I'm not saying it was him or was anyone connected to him. I just think it needs to be acknowledged that he's the only person who has nothing to lose and everything to gain by those pictures being leaked. That makes him a suspect. THAT'S something Disney needs to address.

Second - I have a friend who works at Disney and he said that Disney is not going to do anything to Vanessa because she came out immediately and admitted to the photos. The photos taken were meant to be private and were self-taken by her using her camera's timer. They were meant for her boyfriend.

Hmmmmm....

Nude photos (tasteful or not) of a minor and most people on here seem to think it's okay? These are children people! Celebrities or not, they are children! Tsk tsk.

I can just imagine Walt saying, "Annette, don't worry about it. They were tasteful nudes." And yes, I know that's a stretch, but think about it people!

Whatever happened to right and wrong? Do we not know the difference between being a child and being an adult?

And anyone who says, "It was just for her boyfriend" needs to wise up. Do you also say that about teenagers who get pregnant? "She only slept with her boyfriend". Or maybe, "He only did drugs with his girlfriend". Wrong is wrong regardless of who you do it with.

I agree with captainhook91, though I understand the photo that's already "in the wild" to have been taken while she was "legal". In any case, it's not something that should've been done and the actions need consequences. There are many parents out there who now have to explain the situation to their kids, and that's something that kids don't need to be exposed to (even if they had already been exposed, they don't need more of it). They're losing their innocence younger and younger these days and that is a crying shame.

Also, some of you seem to think that the pictures were intended for Zac Efron, her boyfriend and co-star on High School Musical. While this certainly is a possibility, I highly doubt it. I have seen the pictures and Vanessa looks a lot younger in the photos than she does now... This makes sense based on the report from People.com. While the accuracy of the article hasn't been confirmed, it does mention (based on insider info) that the pictures were taken two years ago and were sent to Nickelodeon star Drake Bell... Who knows exactly who the pics were intended for, but there's no denying that Vanessa looks younger in the photos than she does in the movie.

As a parrent of a 13 year old girl .... I can honestly say I would only feel slightly more "relieved" if I found out shes sending nude pictures of herself to a 15 year old guy .... then say ... a 39 year old pretending to be a 15 year old guy. Because THAT is who is seeing these pictures now.

Bottom line .... No one wold be looking at these pictures if she didnt take them to begin with.

ok, so my previous thread was incorrect, as i believed that you had not commented on this story. sorry, i honestly didn't see this when i did a search.

but to add my opinion. the other photos sound like paparazi (sp?) pics, and not of her in the nude. we should remember that her privacy has been violated by someone.

as for "firing" her, i don't think so. if they do, i think zac will bail on hsm3. i think he wants an opportunity to bail, but will move forward for $$$, fun and fans. if they try to replace vanessa it will be a perfect oppotunity for zac efron to refuse the role.

he seems to have several other projects already lined up.

and i must also give vanessa credit because she isn't denying her behavior, which she could have as most people believed the nude photo was a fake.

First off, I highly doubt Vanessa Hudgens (sp?) is actually 18. Remember that actors and other entertainers regularly shave their ages; Motown billed Michael Jackson as being 8 years old in 1969 when he was actually 12. She's probably 21 (or even older) and her agent shaved her age for publicity purposes. So the previous nude pics were likely taken when she was of age. Dumb move, but not likely to get her fired. Hey, Rachel McAdams had a hard time finding work after she *refused* to take it all off for Vanity Fair.

I doubt HSM will lose ratings over this. It likely means VH'll have a harder time renegotiating her contract when it's up for renewal.

Still, I have no respect for the dirtbag who released these pics onto the Net, and the media who have been stirring up this controversy.

TMZ.com reports that new pix of Vanessa have shown up:

"Vanessa Hudgens canceled her appearance on 'The Tonight Show' last night, the same day that more saucy pictures of the 'High School Musical' star appeared on the Internet.

Though she doesn't bare all this time, according to the New York Daily News, the alleged snaps show Vanessa in a near-lip-lock with another girl, and apparently massaging a female friend's breast. Oddly enough, Hudgens was also 'caught' by paparazzi yesterday coming out of an L.A. church with her family.

Hudgens blamed her no-show at 'Tonight' on a 'scheduling conflict.'"

We'll soon see if Jim's source was right; if so, this should be it for her partnership with Disney.
