How do we know the whole Light Magic story behind it existed you take Jims word on it... Like i said before this forum is about interesting things that are happening at the mouse and stories...  Just like when Bob Gurr tells imagineering stories,  and Wade sampson tells his stories you take the word for it and enjoy what they have o share

I have to agree with PICKSTAR on the point that I do prefer the WD News articles over the fluff pieces. I rarely read them or post about them, however, this one did make me chuckle.

Now, how about following up with a worthy news piece that says something.

In CM employee S.O.P. from Disney University employee protocol   ...   wheeling that gator out on stage for people to see & create all kinds of inquiries akin anything like        'is the little dear hurt?'   ...     all of that would be considered "BAD SHOW"  within Disney's own practices.  Points off that day  !!!   ;(

Bad show, perhaps, but the gator was already "on stage" and eating the ducks -- sometimes you have to cover a really bad show with a slightly less bad show.

Um. Cute story, but sort of lame. It was a slow news day yesterday, eh, Jim?.... And now today you're just not giving us a story...

you guys havent been around long enough to read Jim from his early days...

Actually I've been reading Jim's stuff for years ... I just never posted before. I even met him once at Mouse Fest back in like 2005 or so. Nice guy.

Honestly, my issue is more one of frustration. I know how good Jim can be when he wants to be, but his choice of articles lately has just been nothing short of mystifying.

Don't take my word for it either ... in his last dozen stories only a very small handful have generated comments in excess of 15 or so. And of those, many were short comments lamenting the lack of good articles lately.

I mean there has just been SO MUCH going on with Disney lately, both DL and WDW. I'm STILL waiting for Jim to write a story on the Spaceship Earth refurb. Disney is buying back the Disney Stores, nothing on that from Jim. They've agreed to build luxury-level private residences on WDW property. That's been ignored.

Instead, for whatever reason, Jim's been focusing lately on stuff like bridges that need repair and fluff like this story. I just don't get it coming from a guy like Jim, who I know can do so much more.

All great suggestions Pickstar.  How about a something about DCV Hawaii (heck let Shelly and Alice contribute, they are already there).  How about a little something about on the impact on the Disney Cruise expansion.  What about Rasulo spending so much time lobbying in Washington for a non-Disney entity when he should be working out the many problems the exist within the parks and resorts?  Maybe something about the status of the Frog Princess (it's been over a year since Jim has written about that!)

I guess we'll just have to wait a few weeks for Wall*E's release.  I'm sure the site will be abuzz if Jim returns to form with his annual summer release projections/expectations/disappointments column.

Could it be that he is no longer in the know on all those topics!!!  I hope that is not the case, besides I am sure it is hard to maintain a daily site. Maybe we will see more people adding stories who are closer to the action.  

I have been reading for a long time also and took a long time to post. I relish the good stuff, tolerate the fluff stuff and thank Jim Hill, but he is not my main Disney source.

I a  sure better articles are ahead.

He's really fantastic when he's got a good story. And... yesterday's story was not one.

So you people spent 20 comments knocking the story you didn't like---more attention than paid to many on topics you say you prefer? Hmmmmmmmmm....methinks thou dost protest too much.

Meanwhile, I dunno about hot-dog eating gulls....but I once had a nasty gull positively deep-throat a whole churro right out of my hand at the cantina in front of the Mexico pavillion at EPCOT one afternoon.

So as they used to say in those "true-life-adventure" stories on the old Disneyland TV show...."The wild is a beautiful place, but sometimes it can be a dangerous one...."

....as Jim certainly knows from the yipping and snarling of the wild patrons of this website who just feel that if they can't say something grouchy and silly, they aren't truly living at all, huh?

I'll ignore all your "grouchy and silly" comments, except to say that everyone is entitled to their own opinion ... but at the same time, you know what they say about opinions.

Anyhoo ... that must be the gulls favorite spot to pilfer food items, because in one single trip I had a churro stolen out of my hand there and my brother got an entire Mickey Bar swiped from him. There was a contract out on that gull, I can tell you that!

         I get the frustration, I have been a crtiic of the site just as much as a fan I tended to enjoy the Alligator story thought it was more refreshing ... but I think the main factors in the lack of stories lately are two-fold  and you cant really fault Jim

                 -This is a part time fan site, Jim  has a real job  and Im sure he cant post everything all the time.

                 - I think for a while alot of sources have been drying up this actually goes to the Pixar rule  they are trying to weed people out who reveal to much...

Again , I cant fault a man who has to work and is doing this  as a fan site that doesn garner enough donations to do this as a full time job .  Mouseplanet tried that and they have never been profitable I actually think Laughingplace has been at least the most successful at a business model

Here's how I contribute to the comments here: FIRST, I read what's been written, THEN, if what I have to say is an expansion, differentiation, or other CONTRIBUTION to the discussion, I post. Often I read a lot that I agree with, but think, "OK, it's been said," and I move on. One recent example? The criticisms of the story about Ollie which I mostly agreed with. But my point is....if all you have to say is "I didn't like it! Waaaaaaahhhhhh!" and its been said once, twice, twenty TIMES???

Then my OPINION is, that's whiney and grouchy and silly and mostly SUPERFLUOUS.

I mean, its like a gull eating MANY churros and....well....does the term "birdbrained" come to mind? (Smile)

Well ............. but using your logic, how would Jim ever know how many people did or did not like his stories?

Personally, I think I'm doing him a favor by providing him with feedback in terms of how his stories are being received. And I'm certainly not alone.

BTW, I'd like to be able to deny that I'm grouchy, but unfortunately you're on the money with that assessment. ;)

Heheh...well, Grouchy (the famou 8th dwarf perhaps?) I think there's feedback and there's whining and hey, chacun-a-son-kvetch.

Meanwhile, for those starved for "news" here---They gave Mike Eisner a "star" on Hollywood Blvd. Film at 11.

Jim was just trying to garner up support for the brave cast members who battle every day with the fierce beasts of nature.  Why just they other day I spent a good hour re-uniting a baby squirrel with its mother outside the World of Disney store and let me tell you, my near minimum wage salary was well earned!  Every few minutes the mom would rush past me into the store searching for her offspring and I would chase her back out while navigating the crowds of people and cornering her outside while security nabbed the baby.  We're fortunate there were no gators around to gobble them up!
