1935.  This was also the year David O. Selznick released "David Copperfield" and "A Tale of Two Cities".  I'm surprised that in all the film adaptations he oversaw, A Christmas Carol was not one of them.  I imagine it would've been something if he did -- and in Technicolor to boot!

Jim, the full restored (as restored as the picture can get I gather) is available from Image entertaiment and runs 78 min.  It was released in 2002.  I just rented it last night and it does make a better story than my old 60 min tape versionn.  The print is from the Blackhawk Films collection.
