Any word on when a trailer will be out? The movie comes out this summer and we haven't seen a single clip yet. I wonder if they're running behind schedule.
The whole time I was reading the plot, I had Davey Jones in mind instead of Barbosa...I was wondering why he teamed up with Captain Jack, Elizabeth, and Will. Silly me. The "Pirates" films aren't my favorite, but, since I saw the other 2, I'll be seeing this one. I wonder if the monkey will be back...
Forget the monkey. He'll be back if Barbossa is back. What about the dog? We have got to have some resolution there. I can't wait to see this movie! Perhaps the new trailer will be out with Meet the Robinsons. May can't be here soon enough. With this and Spider-Man, I am aready geeking out.
I'm most interested in the Barbossa backstory. How did he come back, and why would he help Jack? What's in it for him? I can't wait to see a trailer for this.
I want a Trailer...or a website...or ANYTHING. Pirates 2 had a website out in January 2006, and the trailer aired with the Super Bowl. And Pirates 2 wasn't coming out until July. Pirates 3 comes out May and well... we've got some concept art, a teaser poster, and six promo images (one of which is my avatar). Originally the trailer was supposed to come out with The Santa Clause 3. It didn't so then it was Night At The Museum. That didn't work out either. Then they looked at Ghost Rider and Bridge to Terebithia. No trailers yet. The trailer had better come out with Meet the Robinsons... or unfortunately PotC3 won't get enough publicity.
Is the secret weapon "love" :) ? Hope not.
This film is so gonna rock. I hope it's a great ending to a great trilogy. (Although, since Johnny Depp has stated that he'll do the Sparrow character as long as Disney wants to make films about it, who knows if this third installment will really be the "End"? ;)
I am sure that the lack of Pirates publicity thus far won't hurt this movie. There is way too much anticipation with this flick that people will go flocking to it that first weekend. I loved the first two so much I will be there at least twice that first weekend just to make sure that it make the money it deserves.
When stuff DOES actually come out for this film, I really hope dumb people don't think that it's a continuation of advertising for the second film...sadly, there are actually people like that...
Oh and apparently Jack's dad makes Jack and Elizabeth get married... I got that from IMDB forums-it might not be true.
Wow, so the finale is a live-action version of The Little Mermaid's big set piece?
Jim, dude, you are way-overplaying this. Congrats on the inside info and thanks for sharing it. But was part of the deal that you had to gush over Pirates 3 before even seing it?
Misterjohnson:
You would be gushing to if you heard it as well I assure you. I know I would. Jim is just like us. a geek at heart and of curse he's going to be excited about sharing this with us.
"There's one high speed exchange between Capt'n Jack and two floozies on the waterfont that really has to be seen to be believed." and yet, unless they were showing the film on the convention hall floor, it hasn't been seen. Otherwise, very surprising stuff - I had no idea they'd try to have more special effects in this movie. I was expecting more of a Merchant Ivory-type film, very low-key, primarily a character study. Even without seeing it, here's another spoiler - the version released to theatres will still need about 30 minutes edited out of it. Hopefully, it will be another blockbuster - after the latest court case, Disney Co has a lot of past-due Pooh license fees they need to pay off.
Wow. Well, at least curmudgeon lives up to his screenname.
This isn't overplaying at all. I've been waiting for months for ANY concrete info on this movie, and here it finally is. Now about that trailer...
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is going to basicaly rule this summer.
The first Pirates film was amazing, astonishing, with an over the top story! It was my favorite until now.
The Second Pirates film was also amazing, and astonishing special-effects wise, but the story was a bit overrated.
The Thirs Pirates film is looking up to be one of the biggest films in my lifetime. Not only I'm sure Disney is going all out to make sure this film is a huge success, I'm pretty sure Disney will market this film just right, and its most probable that by the beginning of May we'll be able to get our hands on almost ANYTHING Pirates. Yes, Disney will also go all out in publicity for this movie I'm sure. The trailer will be amazing, like the trailer for the second movie was. I have very high hopes for this film. Spiderman 3 though is very solid competition, as for Shrek 3, its sure to be a hit, but the poor Ogre will be severely shot down by this behemoth, Disney is bringing out the big guns.
<<<after the latest court case, Disney Co has a lot of past-due Pooh license fees they need to pay off.>>>
That would be true if this latest court case actually dealt with this issue, which it didn't. This case dealt with the grandchildren(who were backed by Disney) of Poohs creater suing the Slesingers. It was thrown out.
It has no bearing on a 2004 California state court judgment dismissing the Slesingers’ long-standing royalty claims against Disney. The Slesingers still have a long ways to go before Disney pays the Slesingers a larger share of the pie.
Sounds great!! Oohhh, I'm sooo excited! Hope "At World's End" blows "Titanic" from the number one spot domestic and internationally!
I liked all these movies. And I really can't wait until the third one comes to theaters, Shrek 3 and Spiderman 3 stand no chance, well maybe spiderman, but not shrek, he's pretty much dead.
And JIM! Could you please explain the whole "Disney & Winnie the Pooh" dilema, has Disney really lost the Bear?!
"Is the secret weapon "love" :) ? Hope not"
Haha, that sounds a little too "Harry Potter" for me.
The ship coming to the edge of the world sounds like it will visually amazing. I really do like the plot, though. I hope the ending does justice to this amazing trilogy.
I was wondering if you knew how the relationship between Will and Elizabeth turned out in AWE since it was incredibly strained in the second film and if Will Turner becomes the captain of the Flying Dutchman??
While I loved the first Pirates film, I think the hype has gotten me to the point of near-disgustion.... but, through the intense propaganda of "Special Effects", the third film seems pretty goshdarn awesome. I'm looking foward to it, and I hope that the plot is a bit stronger than the former [which seemed like Empire Strikes Back on the High Seas.... with CGI!].
I love that Keira Knightly is playing a strong-willed female, but I still think, as the films progressed, she became less of the headstrong heroine of the first film and more of a sex symbol towards the second.... while the sculpture of Miss Swan offers little encouragement, I do hope that the third film will reclaim her as "pirate" instead of a "wench".
I can't wait to see how this concludes. :D
Loved the first movie. The second was so so. This sounds like a continuation of 2 but with more FX. Of course with a Jerry Bruckheimer film you put your brain in neutral and enjoy the ride, so looking forward to it anyway.
Trapelano nuove indiscrezioni sulla trama di : dall'arrivo dei Pirati Cinesi alla sorte di Jack Sparrow, dalla battaglia finale fino a una terribile arma segreta... Anche per il Toy Fair di New York s
Most of the plot I had already heard from other venues on the web. What I had never heard was that there was a sword fight in the top of a ship while swirling around a giant whirlpool. That was news to me. But yet, it shouldn't have been. Last night I was watching the behind the scenes documentary's on Pirates 2, and in part 1, as they are interviewing Gore and other staffers in their conference room, behind them on the wall is all the pre-production artwork for that scene. And not small, either. Half the wall is covered with the picture of the giant whirlpool, the ships starting to get sucked in, and smaller details of pirates fighting in the riggings. It looks fantastic. But I had to say to myself.. "How did I miss THAT when watching this earlier?!" Can't wait for the trailer and Memorial Day!
That description really didn't add anything to what I already assumed would take place after seeing pirates 2.
Jim,
Must you curse so much in your articles? Your foul language offends me and my children.
Please cease. It is highly unnecessary.
