While Nancy, Jim & Cory and I were in the city yesterday to cover that Muppet stamp ceremony at the Museum of Television & Radio, we thought that we'd make a quick side trip to "World of Disney" store. Just to see if the Mouse had made any significant changes to its Manhattan flagship store.

Well, judging by the neon sign in the front window, I'd say that there was some sort of Halloween-based sale going on inside the store ...

Yep, I was right. Once you walk under that enormous spiderweb that's hanging down from the ceiling ...

You'll see that the "World of Disney" currently has table after table of Halloween-themed merchandise up for sale. And -- with the hope that this might compell shoppers to spend even more on this particular line of merch -- if you buy at least $50 worth of Halloween stuff, the NYC store will then give you for free a limited edition Disney/NYC themed canvas trick-or-treat bag (valued at $15).

Mind you, Disney also uses this time of year to heavily promote its "Nightmare Before Christmas" line of products. As you can see, they've recently rolled out a new series of shirts that feature Jack Skellington's likeness ...

... as well as a wide variety of "Nightmare" -themed plush, cups & glassware.

Speaking of promoting things ... NYC's "World of Disney" has begun to heavily hype the company's upcoming animated release, "Chicken Little." To the point that they've temporarily shut down the "Cinderella's Princess Court" area up on the third floor of the store and turned that into a meet-n-greet area for two characters from the film.

Can you spy the ugly duckling in the photo below?

Speaking of ugly ducks ... We were all very amused to see the new line of plush that NYC's "World of Disney" store has recently rolled out. Which basically reduces the Disney characters to this series of rounded-off shapes.

I mean, just look at that Donald Duck. The only thing that's rounder than this plush doll is Jim Hill himself!

Anyway, that's a quick glimpse at what's going on at NYC's "World of Disney" store this month. Your thoughts?
