Apricot Lane is a fashionable new addition to the Downtown Disney District's West End

I have good news for the fly fisherman of Southern California.

Maybe you've heard about this new trend among Hollywood fashionistas. Where they're taken the rooster feathers that are traditionally used in fly tying and then turned them into a fashion accessory?

I know that this may sound like a silly, frivolous story. But to the guys who frequent places like Bob Marriot's fly fishing store in Fullerton, CA., this is serious business. What with all of the tween girls who have been coming into the place and buying up all of the rooster feathers. Which then leaves the fly fisherman with nothing to tie flies with.

Thankfully, just last Wednesday, Apricot Lane opened in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort. And with its wide assortment of feathered hair accessories - not to mention affordable handbags, jewelry and branded fashion apparel - this new merchandise location (which was built right where the old Kitson Kids shop used to be. Right next door to the AMC 12 Theatres in Downtown Disney's West End) will hopefully take some of the heat off of places like Bob Marriott's.

Ken Peterson - the CEO and founder of Apricot Lane - was on hand for the grand opening. With the help of the Cheap Chica herself, Lilliana Vazquez as well as beauty guru Sara Happ, Peterson cut the ribbon (which - in this case - was two pairs of fashionably distressed jeans held together by an assortment of scarves) and then declared this new shop open for business.

Once you entered this stylish boutique, you immediately found yourself surrounded by a wide assortment of unique gift items and one-of-a-kind outfits.

There were beautiful displays of jewelry, deliberately designed to catch the eye of fashion-conscious females of all ages.

Not to mention trendy sunglasses ...

... with all of these items only being available in a limited number. With the idea then being that a shopper can create a brand-new, truly unique look for themselves at a very affordable price.

And given the number of shoppers that turned out for Apricot Lane's grand opening event last Wednesday ...

... it would appear that the Disneyland Resort has just scored a hot new shop for its Downtown Disney District.

Of course, what really helped here is that - given that Ken Peterson immediately wanted to be seen as a good member of the Disneyland community - he insisted that, as part of Apricot Lane's grand opening event, an hour should be set aside where only annual passholders would be allowed into this new Downtown Disney boutique. What's more, that APers be offered special perks & discounts during their time in the store.

And given that Peterson promised that these annual-passholders-only shopping events would soon become a regular thing at Apricot Lane ... Well, it'll now be interesting to see how fashion forward Orange County's Disneyana fans are willing to become? Whether they'll now replace their tired old mouse ears with a stylish assortment of rooster feathers for the hair?

And if they do ... How are these annual passholders then going to explain this new fashion accessory to their Disney feathered friends like Donald Duck ...
