Avast, me hearties ! Walking the plank off the television screen and into an arena near you, look for some popular Disney Junior characters to make a stop in your hometown. Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Sofia the First will be hitting the road starting this summer as Feld Entertainment announces it will stage a live production based on the top performing Disney Junior cable television programs.

Feld, famous for Disney On Ice and Disney Live! extravaganzas, along with its Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, will launch “Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure” in July on a 90-city trek across the country.  The production will interrupt its tour for its official world premiere September 27th in Hollywood.

Just like its Disney On Ice and Disney Live! productions, look for some of your favorite Disney characters to pop up in the shows.  Mickey and Minnie Mouse will be center stage as well as Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins.  Cinderella and Peter Pan will also have parts in the new show.

The storyline calls for Mickey and Minnie to lead the audience on an adventure that will have fans, young and old alike, cheering for their favorite pirate Jake and Disney’s first little girl princess Sofia.  The loveable six-year-old doctor to toys and plush animals, Doc McStuffins performs a special ten-minute interactive pre-show.

Once the curtain goes up on the main attraction, audiences will grab their tiaras and journey to the magical world of Enchancia to meet Sophia and her step-siblings Amber and James as they prepare for the annual friendship festival.  Charged with delivering the perfect gift to her loyal-royal subjects at the celebration, Cinderella pays a visit to Sophia to assist her in finding the right present.

Act two quickly whisks families away to Never Land where they meet Jake and his Yo Ho pirate friends Izzy and Cubby in a race against time to locate a mysterious treasure-filled volcano.  Danger, thrills, spills and adventure lurk around every corner of Never Land as Jake and company encounter the cunning Captain Hook.  Peter Pan flies in to assist the team in their quest and with the help of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust, Jake and his crew will wow the audience as they take to the sky and fly above the stage on their journey.

Feld producers are firing off the creative canons for this production by selecting a diverse award-winning creative team to work on the project.  Fred Tallaksen has been tapped as director and choreographer for the tour.  Tallaksen was the brains behind Madonna’s “Sorry” video and the finale of her Confessions World Tour.  He has also worked as a choreographer on “Austin Powers III-Goldmember ” as well as on other Feld projects including Disney’s Phineas and Ferb: The Best Live Tour Ever! and Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival.

Helping to pen the script for the show is Emmy-nominated producer Bradley Zweig who has worked for the Jim Henson Company, Nickelodeon, the Cartoon Network and Disney Channel.

Jake and Sophia take their show on the road starting July 26th in Savannah, Georgia. It will run through March 16th, 2014 when it plays Rosemont, Illinois. Tickets for the show go on sale on May 28th.  For more information visit disneyjuniorlive.com
