The old adage is "April Showers bring May Flowers."

Well, Nancy and I are down in Orlando right now. And this year, April Showers seems to be bringing May Downpours. Which suggests that June might be a really good time to go shopping for a snorkel.
Anyway ... For now, we're both safe & warm & inside. And to kill time while we're waiting for the rain to stop, I'm paging through the catalog for S / R Laboratories' Spring 2012 Animation Art Auction.
Believe it or not, this is the 50th auction that S / R Labs has held over the years. It seems like only yesterday that these nice folks began making it possible for collectors of fine animation art to bid on some truly extraordinary, genuinely historic pieces.
And the Spring 2012 auction (which will be held on May 21 - 22) continues that tradition. As I page through this 52-page catalog, I'm seeing cels and backgrounds from classic Disney animated features like "Fantasia" ...
... "Alice in Wonderland" ...
... and "Peter Pan."
Not to mention the Studio's anthology features like 1948's "Melody Time" ...
... as well as some of Disney's animated shorts like "Ferdinand the Bull" ...
This auction will also touch on live-action production that prominently featured pieces of animation like "Who Framed Roger Rabbit."
So if you're a serious animation art collector, you might want to head on over the S / R Labs website before May 21st and make sure that you're properly signed up / all wired in for their Spring 2012 auction.
Because if you snooze ...
... you're definitely going to lose.
