My apologies to those of you who have been waiting for over
five weeks now for me to finally post the results of JHM's "Once Upon a
Time" -themed trivia contest. But ... purple smoke?!

For those of you who didn't see the season finale of this
acclaimed ABC series, the very last image you saw was the town of Storybrooke,
Maine being engulfed in this cloud of purple smoke. Which was supposed to
suggest that Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) had found a way to successfully bring
the magic that he had wielded as Rumplestiltskin in the fairytale realm over
into the real world.
Which -- I'll grant you -- was an interesting plot twist and
will probably pay off in a very big way as "Once Upon a Time" kicks
off its second season this Fall on ABC. But given that the season finale of
this ABC Studios production had already featured Emma (Jennifer Morrison) &
Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) both doing battle with Maleficent in dragon form

... to then have "A Land Without Magic" (i.e. that
was actually the title of the season finale of "Once Upon a Time")
wrapped up as this tidal wave of purple smoke washed over the time was ... Well,
kind of disappointing. Not to mention being overly reminiscent of that Black
Smoke Monster which used to terrorize the cast of that other ABC Studios show which
Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz used to work on, "Lost"
Long story short: Having the season finale of "Once
Upon a Time" end in a purple cloud of smoke kind of left me in a purple
funk. Which is why it's taken me 'til now to finally announce the winners of
JHM's most recent trivia contest.

Just to refresh your memories here, that contest was built
around a series of time-related trivia questions which could only be answered by watching and/or carefully
listening to the dialogue used in five
Disney animated features.

And the winner of this particular JHM trivia contest were
Paige Zimmerman, Dan Varian and Charlie's Sister. So if you folks will please
send along your mailing addresses, I'll then pop your "Once Upon a Time"
journals in the mail ASAP.
Moving on now ... Those of you who saw "Brave"
this past weekend no doubt fell in love with Merida's mischievous little
brothers, Hammish, Hubert and Harris ...

But -- me personally -- what I liked best about this trio of
troublemakers is that they continued the great Disney tradition of grouping
memorable animated characters in threes. So for this week's JHM trivia

If you can correctly answer all thirteen of the trivia
questions that I've listed above, you'll then be in the running for a copy of
"Disney Trivia from the Vault: Secrets Revealed and Questions Answered" (Disney Editions, June 2012), that 264-page paperback which was
just released to bookstores today that was written by Dave Smith, Chief
Archivist Emeritus of The Walt Disney Archives.
