So what's the drink of choice in Monstropolis these days? Milk, of course. And if the college-aged versions of James P. Sullivan & Mike Wazowski are to be believed, milk doesn't just do the human body good.  It also does wonders for a growing monster. Giving Sulley a thicker coat of fur and -- in Mike's case -- stronger nails on his hands & his feet.

Mind you, these stars of Pixar's first-ever prequel, "Monsters University," (which arrives in theaters on June 21st) aren't the only Mouse House-related toons to ever appear in a "Got Milk ?" ad. Truth be told, Handy Manny was the very first. This Disney Junior favorite wore a milk mustache in a "Got Milk ?" print ad that ran back in June of 2010.

Phineas & Ferb followed  Manny with their own "Got Milk ?" print ad back in August of 2012.

But before these Disney Channel / Disney XD toon stars got their milk mustaches, there have been plenty of real-life Mouse House performers who got to appear in "Got Milk ?" ads.

Hilary Duff was probably the first. After her "Lizzie McGuire" TV series had wrapped production but before "The Lizzie McGuire Movie " had  rolled into theaters in May 2003, Hilary helped promote that upcoming Walt Disney Pictures release by modeling a milk mustache in a "Got Milk" print ad.

Lindsay Lohan -- inbetween starring in Disney's "Freaky Friday " remake in 2003 and "Herbie: Fully Loaded " in 2005 -- did the white-stuff-under-her-nose thing in 2004.

Okay. I admit it. That was kind of a mean joke. But as you can see by the make-up work that's been done on Corbin Bleu ...

... does take some doing. There are actually huge crews that work behind-the-scenes on these "Got Milk ? " print ads ...

... but as far as The Walt Disney Company is concerned, all this extra effort is worth it ...

So what do you folks think? Are these "Got Milk ?" ads actually an effective way to promote upcoming projects like "Monsters University" ?

  • The ads are effective, but I think it is a shame that Disney is helping to push milk.  Sadly, cow's milk does not do a body good and it is a shame that we've all been lied to about this issue for so long.  I know I will be bashed for this, but so be it.  And before I make my case, I have no problem with people consuming dairy because they like it.  I have a problem with an industry that says you have to drink it to be healthy, when in fact, it is quite the opposite.

For an example of what I am talking about, check out the fact that the countries that consume the most dairy also have the highest incidence of osteoporosis, ovarian cancer, and prostate cancer.  The countries consuming the least amount of dairy have the lowest incidence of these same heath issues.  That should tell you something.  Seriously, if milk is supposed to prevent osteoporosis, why do the rates of osteoporosis go up as the rates of dairy consumption go up?

Does drinking cow's milk even make sense?  Think about it.  What other species of animal on the planet naturally drinks mothers milk into adulthood?  Remember, I'm talking about naturally...I'm not talking about when a human gives a cat some cows milk.  Would you ever expect to see an adult cow drinking milk from another cow?  Of course not!  Do we even drink the milk from a human mother as adults?  No.  Most people would think that was kinda gross...yet we somehow think it's normal to drink the milk of a cow as an adult???  Further, what other animal on the planet naturally drinks the milk (a bodily secretion btw) of a different species of animal?  Ok, I'm sure we can find a youtube video of this happening, but come on.  If it happens it is a very rare and very isolated event.  It is not the norm.

Drinking milk into adulthood, especially the milk of another species of animal is not natural, it is not necessary...and it is not healthy.  If you want strong bones, eat lots of green leafy vegetables, exercise, get enough sunshine, and limit your consumption of dairy products.  If you like milk, drink it...but in moderation.  But don't take my word for it, research it for yourself.  Just google it for starters.
