Could we see a king-sized character in Disney "Descendants 2" ?

Look, I really don't want to be that guy. Especially since I just wrote an article for HuffPost that talked about how Kenny Ortega and his creative team got the Disney-related details right on "Descendants." But then  I was told to take a closer look at the map of the United States of Auradon that makes a brief appearance at the very start of this Disney Channel Original Movie.

Given that there's a Bald Mountain stashed in the mountain range behind Auradon Prep, it's clear that whoever put together this map wanted to cram as many well-known Disney-related land masses into this image as possible.

Which is why  -- if you look off to the right on this map of the United States of Auradon -- it's not all that surprising to see Skull Island. Because that's where Captain Hook & Mr. Smee took Tiger Lily ... right?

Wrong. The skull-shaped island that's featured on "Peter Pan" is actually Skull Rock.

Whereas Skull Island ...

... you know who lives there, right?

But then it occurred to me. Given that -- since 6.6 million people viewed "Descendants"  this past Friday night -- "Descendants 2" is pretty much a lock at this point. So maybe Kenny & Co. are looking to do something interesting with the sequel to this Disney Channel Original Movie.

After all, if the sons & daughters of Disney's Princes and Princesses can go to Auradon Prep ...

(L to R) Zachary Gibson as Doug, the son of Dopey; Brenna D'Amico as Jane, the
daughter of the Fairy Godmother; Mitchell Hope as Prince Ben, son of Queen Belle
& King Beast; Sarah Jeffery as Princess Audrey, daughter of Sleeping Beauty &
Prince Phillip; Jedidiah Goodacre as Prince Chad, son of Cinderella & Prince
Charming; and Dianne Doan as Lonnie, daughter of Fa Mulan & Li Shang.

... who's to say that the Son of a certain King won't show up in the "Descendants" sequel?

Just kidding ... I think.

And speaking of sequels: Thanks to the nice folks at Disney Press, we have a trio of "Disney Descendants" books (i.e., The "Disney Descendants" novelization, "Mal's Diary" and "Mal's Spell Book") to give away.

"And how do I win these books?," you ask. All you have to do is fill out an entry to which lists three sequels to Disney Channel Original Movies. And a winner will be randomly selected from all of the correct entries that JHM receives before midnight ET on Saturday, August 8, 2015.

Good luck!

  • Ben turns into an uncontrollable beast (part of the curse is still in his blood), and after accidentally hurting a couple of people really bad he's sentenced to the Isle of the Lost by the illegitimate son of Frollo who's trying to take over the Kingdom through politics.

So, our 4 hero/villain kids and a new team of hero students break into the island prison to bring Ben back. We repeat the heist vibe from the Museum break-in and have the good kids open their minds a bit to the downtrodden side of their world. Here they recruit some more villain kids that will help out with the final piece.

When they reach Ben they notice that King Beast is the new leader of the Island realizing that he can be as good a leader as he can be a violent tyrant. (Yeah, we’re going Apocalypse Now baby... Heart of Darkness).

Now it's time for Mal to make him realize that ruling with fear is no leadership at all.

Final set piece: they have to get every villain out because the island is gonna sink: Yzma and Kronk's entrepreneurial offspring, trying to escape the re-domed island, have created an unplanned maze of tunnels that will make the prison island drop to the bottom of the ocean.
