A few Sundays ago, I had the opportunity to stop by the Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Located in Concord, North Carolina, just north of Charlotte, this is the heart of NASCAR racing.
Guess who’s coming soon?
And with the upcoming premiere of Disney/Pixar’s new film, “Cars” weeks away, I thought you might enjoy a quick preview of the speedway. Turning it into an outdoor theater, able to offer great viewing of this new motion picture will be a challenge for everyone involved. But knowing how well the folks here handle big crowds for race days, I suspect they will be well up to the task ahead.
But before we head off to see some of the sights, let me mention that tickets for this event are going fast. If you want to enjoy this event, I suggest you click on this link and get yours before they are all gone. And from what I’ve heard, that may be soon! At $10 each, this is one heck of a bargain! Of course, if you are in the Charlotte area, you can always stop by the ticket office and the gift shop to get your tickets directly.

As I entered the lobby, I knew I was in the right place. Greeting guests are a fine series of theater lobby standee displays featuring the cast of “Cars”.
A selection of the characters from “Cars” in the lobby.
I suspect that if you haven’t seen these appearing in your local theater that they will do so soon.

Checking with the fine folks in the Gift Shop, they expect all kinds of merchandise related to the film to be available here soon. And during the premiere event, Disney may also have its own special merchandise available to guests. Something for every car enthusiast one would expect.
From the information provided about the premiere event, it appears that the seating will be General Admission (not specific seat assignments) in the Diamond Tower Terrace, overlooking Turn 2.

The day of my visit, a tour of the speedway was not available. Sadly, from behind the locked gates, there was not a lot to see beyond what I’ve shared. But come the night of May 26, it promises to be one heck of a lot of fun for everyone. Sure wish that I was going to be there!
Be sure to check back over the next few weeks as we may have more to share about this event…
