You’re going to have to forgive me if today’s column seems somewhat less coherent than the stuff that I usually write for JHM. But you see … I walked into this plate glass window the other night. Seriously, folks. Night before last, I’m over at a friend’s house in Kissimmee. And his kids ask me if I’d like to come join them in the TV room to watch “Lost.” So I say “Yes.” The two children then gesture toward what I thought was an open door. Which I assumed was the actual entrance to the TV room. But it wasn’t the entrance. It was actually a surprisingly clear piece of plate glass. Which I then walked into at a high rate of speed. The good news is … The plate glass didn’t actually shatter when I ran into that window. But the bad news is … My head made a noise like a gong when my forehead hit the glass. And I’ve been feeling somewhat loopy ever since. Which is why the MouseFest 2005 event that I’m supposed to be taking part in this morning will probably be a whole more entertaining than it was originally supposed to be. Mostly likely, I’ll forget that I’m not supposed to discuss that Matt Ouimet may soon be leaving the Disneyland Resort for … Oops. That’s the really terrible thing about head injuries. You don’t actually realize that your mouth has gotten your @$$ in trouble until you hear the words tripping off your tongue … Anyway … Scott Liljenquest of Mouseketrips.com wants me to remind all of you that today’s meet-n-greet will be held at DAK’s Flame Tree Barbeque restaurant starting at 11:30 a.m. Mind you, if you can’t make it to today’s meet-n-greet … That’s okay. You can still find me — along with dozens of other Disney webmasters and authors — at Saturday afternoon’s MegaMouse Meet. Which will be held in the Northern Hemisphere Ballroom (Salon E) starting at 1 p.m. Of course, if you can’t make it to either of those two events … Well, there’s always the JHM Christmas Party. Which is being held in the Buena Vista Room at the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel near WDW’s Downtown Disney on Saturday night. There’ll be lots of great desserts & door prizes here. Plus noted Disney historian Jim Korkis and myself will be telling tales that I’m sure you’ll find extremely entertaining … Like what the Walt Disney Company has been doing about Michael Eisner since this controversial CEO left the Mouse House back in September. I mean, it’s like they’re now attempting to … Oops. Again, my apologies. But let’s remember that I’m a man with a head injury, okay? Which means I’m not really thinking before I start talking. So who knows what sorts of Disney-related secrets are going to get slipped over the next two days? Anywho … If you want to attend Saturday night’s shindig, be sure that you drop Mr. Liljenquist a line at Scott@Mouseketrips.com ASAP. So that Scott can then put your name on the official JHM Christmas Party guest list.
Also … Roger Colton & Jeff Lange want me to remind you that they’ll be holding their own JHM reader get-together at Disneyland on Saturday … The meeting place for this get-together is by the old cigar store indian. Which you’ll find in front of the Frontierland shooting gallery. The meeting time for this West Coast JHM reader get-together is high noon. So — if you’re in the park tomorrow — be sure & stop on by to tell Roger & Jeff “Hi!” for me. And finally … There are just a few days left ’til we close JHM’s first-ever reader’s poll. So if you want to have a say in how this site gets reshaped, be sure and take part in that poll before midnight Sunday night.
Okay. That’s it for now. Here’s hoping that I get to see some of you folks at today’s meet-n-greet and/or at tomorrow night’s JHM Christmas Party. “How will I recognize you, Jim?,” you ask. Simple. I’ll be the big fat guy in the loud shirt with the extremely flat forehead. See you there!
