Okay. Halloween is less than 2 weeks away at this point. So do you have any
ideas for a costume yet? I didn't think so.
Well, when I'm out to make an impression at my sister
Andrea's annual Halloween / pumpkin carving party, I always try to think about
what scared me as a kid (As opposed to what scares me now as an adult. Which is
the Visa bill).

Anyway, luckily the catalog for S/R Laboratories' latest animation art auction
(which — FYI — gets underway tomorrow. And features a wide selection of
highly collectible / very cool stuff) showed up in the mail earlier this week.
And I paged through those 48 pages of pre-production and promotional items that
will be coming up for bid, I came across all sorts of characters who used to
frighten me back in my formative years. Genuinely weird creatures like the
multi-headed elephant man from "Dumbo
" 's "Pink Elephants on
Parade" number …

… or that sinister coachman who took all of those bad little
boys away to Pleasure Island
in "Pinocchio

Mind you, if you're a woman who's looking for inspiration
when it comes to your 2013 Halloween outfit, the catalog for S/R Labs' Fall
2013 animation art auction also features images of some pretty loathsome
ladies. Infamous Disney Villains like the Wicked Queen from "Snow
White and the Seven Dwarfs" …

… Lady Tremaine from "Cinderella
" …

… and — of course — that awful crone who tricked Snow White into taking a
bite of that poisoned apple.

Of course, if you're a child of the early 1980s, I guess you
could always go trick-or-treating as the dapper-but-dangerous Ratigan from
"The Great Mouse Detective
."

Or if you're more of a sci-fi fan, there's always Sark
from Disney's "TRON
."

If you really want to
make an impression at this year's Halloween party, I guess you could always go as
Chernabog from "Fantasia
" 's "Night on Bald
Mountain" sequence.

The only problem is … I bet those wings would kind of make it difficult to
bust a move out on the dance floor. And I'm thinking that you'd have a similar
sort of problem if you decided to dress as Goofy-playing-Marley's-Ghost from
"Mickey's Christmas Carol
" …

… what with all those chains & money boxes that you'd
be dragging along behind you.
Seriously, folks. If you've really run out of ideas when it
comes to Halloween costumes for this year, a quick page-thru of S/R Labs' Fall
2013 animation art auction catalog (which can be found online right here) is sure to get you all fired up.

And who knows? You may also find a piece of animation
history that you just can't live without as you leaf through this 48-page
catalog.
