Monday Mouse Watch : Hannah Montana & High School Musical-themed makeovers soon to be offered at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Was your darling daughter one of those tweens who helped make that “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both World Concert” film such a smash this past weekend? If she just can’t get enough of Ms. Montana, then you may want to schedule a trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the not-so-distant future.

Why For? Well, because the Walt Disney World Resort is looking to expand its super-popular chain of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques (You know? Those Disney Princess-themed beauty parlors? The first of which opened at Downtown Disney‘s World of Disney superstore back in April of 2006, while the second opened inside of the Magic Kingdom‘s Cinderella Castle this past September). And the current plan calls for yet another of these establishments to be built inside of the studio theme park.

Only this time around, you won’t find Belle, Ariel or Jasmine-themed makeovers on the menu. But — rather — your daughter will be able to choose a hair style or an outfit that will then make her look like Gabriella or Sharpay from the “High School Musical” films. Or — better yet — Hannah Montana herself.

Yep, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going to put a decidedly show-bizzy slant on its version of the “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.” And just like its Disney Princess-themed predecessors, this beauty shop will offer several different types of makeovers. With price points ranging from $50.00 (for a Hannah Montana-style wig and a quick make-up touch-up) to just shy of $250 (For an over-the-top Sharpay-style makeover. Complete with a tiny plush dog to place in your purse. Which will — of course — perfectly coordinate with your new outfit).

Though Disney has yet to officially announce this new retail establishment for the Studios, I’m told that Ms. Cyrus was briefed on the project when her concert tour made a stop in Orlando late last month and quickly gave her approval. I’ve also heard that these WDW officials invited Miley to come cut the ribbon when this Disney Channel-themed shop officially opens its doors sometime in late 2008 / early 2009.

And for those of you who are saying that a beauty shop that only offers “High School Musical” and “Hannah Montana” -themed makeovers & merch is sure to fail as soon as these movies & TV shows fall from favor … Well, from what I understand, the staff at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be working closely with the Disney Channel to make sure that this theme park’s newest retail establishment will be directly tied in with all of that cable channel’s upcoming releases. Which means (in theory) that this shop will also feature clothes & hair styles that then take their inspiration from “Camp Rock,” “High School Musical 3” and “Cheetah Girls 3.”

So what do you folks think? Will you welcome this addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Or are you bothered by the idea that WDW visitors will soon be able to pay upwards of $250 to turn their daughters into mini-Mileys?

Your thoughts?
