The bad news is … You just missed Macy’s 31st Annual Flower Show.

This NYC tradition finished its 15 day run at the Herald Square store on Sunday, April 3rd.

But the good news is … JHM readers Irene Kautto and Joe Smith managed to make it into the city before the Flower Show folded. And they remembered to bring along their cameras.
So what’s the big deal? Muppets!

As part of the Walt Disney Company’s promotional effort for “The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz,” the Mouse persuaded Macy’s to let them use the Herald Square store’s six windows facing onto Broadway to recreate several scenes from this upcoming ABC TV movie. And — based on the photos that Irene & Joe sent along — these windows must have been something really special.

Above, you’ll find an image of Miss Piggy in her Glinda-the-Good-Witch garb. FYI: Piggy plays all four witches in this TV movie. Below, you’ll find a picture of Kermit in his scarecrow costume.

Next up is the Great Gonzo as the Tin Woodsman.

Followed by Fozzie Bear as the Cowardly Lion.

And — of course — it wouldn’t be a Muppets movie without rats. Only, this time around Rizzo & Co. aren’t rodents. They’re actually the Munchkins.

As you might expect, Muppet fans were thrilled by these windows at Macy’s Herald Square. But they were even more thrilled by what they found inside the World’s Largest Store. Which was exclusive “Muppets’ Wizard of Oz” merchandise.

These items included “Muppets’ Wizard of Oz” coffee cups as well as plush version of the characters Kermit & Co. play in the TV movie.

Given the ten of thousands of people who walk by Macy’s Broadway windows every day, this unique promotion could prove to be a real boon for “The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz.” FYI: This new TV movie is now due to air on ABC on Friday, May 20th.
Special thanks to Irene Kautto & Joe Smith for sharing their photos of the “Muppets’ Wizard of Oz” windows.
