It was a quiet Sunday morning at the Westfield Shoppingtown Mall in Trumbull, CT.

Or — rather — it should have been But were you to make your way to the mall’s second floor, you’d find dozens of shoppers & their children crammed in the corridor.

What are these folks eagerily waiting for? The grand opening of a brand new version of the Disney Store.

A version of the store that now will reflect the ideas and goals of this retail chain’s new owners, The Children’s Place LLC.

At 11 a.m., Mickey and Minnie made their grand entrance. Then — joined by several Disney Company officials as well as two children that had been plucked from the crowd — these mouse-ters of ceremony helped cut the ribbon …

… and then dozens of shoppes streamed into the store.

For the better part of yesterday, so many shoppers were eager to experience this brand new version of the Disney Store that the cast members were actually forced to start a line outside the entrance.

Of course, one reason that there was an over-flow crowd for this store’s grand re-opening might have been that Mickey & Minnie hung around for a few hours after the grand opening to greet their fans, sign autographs, pose for pictures, etc.

And Radio Disney was also on hand. Pumping out some tunes as they ran contests and handed out prizes.

So — all in all — it was a kind of fun event to attend.

By the way: If you’d like to see the interior of this new version of the Disney Store, come back to JHM on Wednesday. When we’ll walk you through the entire store as well as talk about some of the more unique concepts that the folks from The Children’s Place has incorporated into the place in an effort to revitalize this retail chain.
