Well, this week finds me in Anaheim or thereabouts… Hello Jet Blue?

I’m enjoying lodging courtesy of Tom Bodett and the folks at Motel 6 in Santa Fe Springs, only a short drive up the I-5 from the DLR. That’s what happens when you try to look for reasonable hotel rates on the first weekend of spring break.

Looking forward to seeing folks. Hope you’ll be able to be there.

So, I’m taking an easy way out for this week’s column and writing it well in advance. More than a week in advance to be precise. Well, what should be a topic for it? I’ve got a bunch of ideas that I should write something about, but they’re all safe for another day.

So why not look at some of the other places on the web? Here’s a small sampler of some of the url’s from my bookmarks.

Starting off, a usual start to my day is a visit to a webcam in Wiesbaden, Germany. In September of 2001, I finally got the chance to go back and visit this city where I was born, only to find out that the hospital where that event took place was torn down to make way for a sports complex. None the less, I found it a great place and one I would like to go back to some day soon.

You can click on the camera direction buttons to get some panoramic views of the city.

A good laugh also starts the day. The Joy of Tech has some great looks at the world of high-tech with a decidedly non-Microsoft flavor.

Author Tom Bodett has a way of looking at life in small town America that appeals to me. His “End of The Road” series of tales always make me chuckle.

I’ve been a baseball fan for the better part of my life. But in the last few years, I have discovered Minor League Baseball. Although it has its own share of interesting business tales, I find that the players and coaches are always open to the fans in a way that simply is not true at the Major League level. I’m somewhat lucky enough to have a fair selection to choose from in my area. Look for a team in your area.

And what is baseball without a souvenir of your favorite team? Here’s a place that makes classic sports team clothing in the finest traditions. Ebbets Field Flannels and Stahl and Dean have a great store just down the street from Seattle’s Safeco Field.

CafePress is an up and coming do-it-yourself online storefront for the custom made item. I’ve used it for souvenirs from the Private Car Trip and the dining car at Joshua Tree also has a page for fundraising. But here are some of the best shirts I’ve seen for sale in a long time! A warning though… I almost did a classic spit take when reading these.

Sound bytes are another one of the things I’m somewhat fascinated by. One place online has a great collection: The Daily Wav.

Seems like there is an organization or society for just about everything these days. How about one dedicated to Monorails?

Some classic clothing? How about Hawaiian shirts, and some of the Disney-themed ones for sale in the Parks? Try Reyn-Spooner!

If there was ever someone who deserved a web site, Buster Keaton would have to be that someone. He got into more trouble with technology. His fan club, the Damfinos, has some wonderful information online. Well worth a visit or two…

Have an interest in Star Trek in all of its many incarnations? Well, Trek Today has the scoop just for your desktop!

That should keep you busy for a few minutes. If you’re looking for more, check the links page on my web site.

Here’s hoping you’ll enjoy a trip around the Net looking at these selected places.

Next week? We’ll explore another interesting topic. Until then, Roger wants to remind everyone to do his or her part and support the JHM site as best you can. And his web pages are located at http://www.privatecarservice.net.
