Ruminations: “Cars” tunes

Anyone been by the iTunes Music Store lately? If so, then you might have spotted this catchy little number.

Which — if clicked on — leads to this…

So why not be the first one on your block to own the soundtrack from “Cars” by preordering it from iTunes? As the iTunes store page explains:

“The soundtrack from Cars is the ultimate road trip album – featuring tracks by Sheryl Crow, Rascal Flatts, John Mayer, Brad Paisley and James Taylor. Pre-order the album and the Rascal Flatts track “Life Is a Highway” will begin to download immediately. Your credit card will be billed for the $.99 track and the remainder will be charged separately when the album becomes available on June 6. You’ll also receive a bonus digital booklet and a music video. Am email will remind you to download your copy”

You also get tracks from the score by Randy Newman.

But wait. There’s more! One of the more popular things on the iTunes Music Store is the Celebrity Playlists. And “Cars” is no exception. How about some tunes that you might hear on the radio of your favorite “Cars” star?

From the special page:

“What do the computer-animated cars in Radiator Springs listen to in their spare time? Find out with exclusive playlists from Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), Mater (Larry The Cable Guy), Sally Carrera (Bonnie Hunt), Doc Hudson (Paul Newman), Fillmore (George Carlin) and Ramone (Cheech Marin).”

All in all, some pretty good stuff to listen to there. Perhaps on that long roadtrip down the Five to Anaheim…

And as a special bonus, how about a FREE 15-part “Cars” podcast? So far, only the first five episodes are available. But in the weeks ahead, we can expect plenty of other great tales from the production of this film. Again, as described on the special iTunes page:

” After taking moviegoers into the realm of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, and superheroes, the masterful wizards at Pixar Animation Studios hit the road with a fast-paced comedy adventure set inside the world of cars. Take a ride behind the scenes and learn about the magic that went into the production of the movie – from auto research, to animation, to marketing and to the world premiere.”

So … if you just can’t wait for June 6th, here is one insanely great way to get just that much more of an inside scoop.

Now about those tickets to the “Cars” Premiere in Charlotte. Well, I’ve chosen the story that I like best (And I’ve already dropped a note to the winner). But you all will have to check back another time to read it. Because I’m going to share all three with you in a special edition of “Ruminations” that will be posted on JHM soon.
