As D23: The Official Disney Fan Club announced at the end of last year, the 2015 D23 Member Gift is a reproduction of a “pitch portfolio” used by the Disney team to help make Walt’s dream of Disneyland become a reality.
When showcasing the soon-to-be-completed theme park to prospective licensees on the East Coast, the Disney team brought portfolios like this one, which features more than 20 pages of colorful concept artwork.
With the gift starting to ship this week, Disney Legend Dave Smith, Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline and D23’s Kristin Rodack just completed a video that highlights both the original portfolio and the reproduction, so fans and members can see how closely we worked to stay true to the original piece-from the textured cover to the pins that hold the art in place!
