For all us Disneyana fans who grew up watching & loving “Mary Poppins,” spelling “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” is pretty much a piece of cake. Hell, most of us can still probably say ” … the biggest word you ever heard” backwards (Which — according to Julie Andrews on this Academy Award-winning film’s soundtrack — is pronounced “Dociousaliexpisticfracticalirupus”).
But the big question is … Would you be able to dance / spell “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” ? If so … Well, there could be a trip to New York City in your future. Not to mention a two night stay in the City the Never Sleeps. As well as a pair of tickets see to the Broadway production of “Mary Poppins.”
Mind you, this contest ain’t no lark or spree. In order to win your way into the New Amsterdam Theatre, you first have to learn the choreography for this particular number from the stage version of “Mary Poppins.” Then you have to make a video of yourself performing “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Which you then have to upload onto YouTube.
Not to worry, though. The nice folks over at BroadwayWorld.com (i.e. the sponsors of this particular sweepstakes) are here to help. They’ve got a video posted on their website where Suzanne Hylenski, the dance captain for “Mary Poppins” …

… And … Well, you get the idea.
On their website, BroadwayWorld has also provided links to where you can download “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” as well as purchase this same song on iTunes. So all you have to do now is learn those dance moves and then make your video.
Though — if you’re looking to enter the “BroadwayWorld.com Mary Poppins Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Sweepstakes” — you’d best get a move on. You see, all entries must be received by 11:59 a.m. EST on Friday, August 15th. After that, “Poppins” fans can then vote for their favorite performance from August 16th through the 31st. With the winner being announced on Monday, September 1st.
And just so you know … Even if you don’t snag the top prize, the top 10 runners up in this sweepstakes will receive copies of the “Mary Poppins” original cast recording. So learning to dance / spell “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” could still pay off.
