Now you see … This is what I love about the Internet.
To explain: Earlier this morning, I posted a story on JHM about how the Walt Disney Company is reportedly getting ready to change its FastPass system over from being a free service that’s available to all theme park guests to a high-priced perk that would only be offered to people staying at Disney’s on-property resorts. And — as of 9 a.m. EST — some very interesting e-mail began popping up in my in-box.
Take — for example — this note from Mr T. :
Jim,
I know for a fact that there are already “all-day fast passes” available to certain VIP guests for certain attractions. I’ve seen one. It’s a card that isn’t surrendered to a CM upon entering an attraction.
Still need more proof? Check out this package:
And — if you follow that link — you’ll find a very interesting item up for bid over on eBay: “The Disneyland Space Mountain Re-Launch Vacation Experience.” And among the perks offered in this Disney Auctions package are:
- Round-trip airfare for you and up to three (3) guests from the metropolitan airport nearest your hometown to a Los Angeles- or Orange County-based airport.
- Lodging for five days and four nights at a Disneyland® Resort hotel.
- Round-trip ground transportation between the destination airport and hotel.
- Four (4) 5-Day Disneyland® Resort Park Hopper® Tickets that allow you to experience both Disneyland® and Disney’s California Adventure? theme parks.
- Admission to the Space Mountain Re-Launch Ceremony and the opportunity to be among the first guests to experience the newly re-Imagineered attraction on July 15, 2005.
- Four (4) One Day-All Day Disney’s FASTPASSES® to enjoy Space Mountain as many times as you wish.
It’s that last item that really caught my eye. The “One Day-All Day FastPass.” Which means that what Mr. T was saying earlier is true. That this sort of thing is already programmed into Disney’s virtual queuing system. That the Walt Disney Company is already making this perk available to VIPs.
Soooooo … Given that the Mouse is already advertising these “One Day-All Day FastPasses” as a extra added bonus feature that’s folded into these special “Guest Experience” packages that the company has been putting up for bid at Disney Auctions … Well, is it really then that much of a stretch to think that — over the next year or so — that the Walt Disney Company will quietly begin offering this very same perk to resort guests who are willing to pay top dollar for it?
What do you think?
