Given that the pirate Angelica has begun making appearances in the Adventureland section of WDW‘s Magic Kingdom Park as well as in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park ….

… Well, Disneyana fans are wondering if any other “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” characters will soon be popping up elsewhere in the Parks. Like – say – inside of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride itself?
Well, according to Ian McShane (i.e. the actor who plays Blackbeard in the fourth film of Disney’s “Pirates” series), his character will in fact be appearing inside of the ride sometime very soon. In an interview that McShane gave to Tara Bennett (which you can find in the June 2011 issue of Sci Fi magazine), Ian is quoted as saying that …

… he’s quite keen that he’s just (been) immortalized in the revamped Pirates of the Caribbean theme park ride in California. “I just did this hologram so now I’m forever part of the ride. You’ll now see a hologram of Blackbeard on the waterfall when you enter the ride, which is fun.”
Now given that – as part of the June 2006 revamp of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” ride – Audio Animatronic versions of Captains Barbossa & Jack Sparrow as well as a mist curtain projection of Davy Jones were added to this attraction … Well, does that mean that the Davy Jones portion of this iconic Disney theme park attraction is about to be deep-sixed? So that Davy’s projection can then be replaced by Blackbeard?

Or do the Imagineers have some other spot in mind within POTC’s walls where they can then project a holographic version of the pirate all pirates fear?
Either way, it’s probably going to be worth your while to go check out “Pirates of the Caribbean” (the ride) on May 20th. Which is when “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will be opening in theaters nationwide. So that you can then see if Ian McShane was telling the truth and that the Imagineers have slipped a new scallywag into this super-popular attraction.
