While waiting on Jo-Ann, Teddy and Gel to work their magic packing Christmas ornaments for the flight home, I stepped outside in front of the Disney Showcase. Talk about timing, because there was an announcement being made about a parade that was about to begin here.
Well, at least that’s what I thought I heard. This was on the afternoon of Monday, November 15, 2004. What was it really? The photos below tell the tale much better than I can…
Almost as quick as you looked over those, including the time it took to load them on your screen, this “parade” was all done. I was glad to see so many characters involved. And Mickey’s actual birthday wasn’t until Thursday in any case. With the “Parade of the Stars” on hiatus, I’m of mixed feelings about this one. Perhaps no parade would have been a better option.
One neat thing though, for me as the transport geek, was seeing Mickey riding in the electric car with the combination throttle and steering tiller instead of a wheel. Lots of photo’s of Walt driving the same vehicle for various events over the years. I just don’t have one to share with you.
So? This was a Parade? I guess it all depends on your point of view. For me, it wasn’t. For the family with the two kids making their only Disneyland visit, perhaps it was. In any case, it’s another in a long line of Disney memories made for Park guests. And that makes it special enough for any of us…
Roger’s not taking this week off! Check back Friday for the usual foolishness right here!
