Movie App Introduces Social Theater Check-In And Home Release Reminders

Published

on

[prMac.com] Miami, Florida – FlickDirect Inc. today is pleased to announce the release of 'Movie Clock' version 5.1, an expanded offering of its critically acclaimed movie centric iPhone app. Movie Clock's central feature has always been its unique always running countdown clock for movies coming soon to theaters. Version 5.1 now also includes release dates for movies on Blu-ray and digital download. In addition, Movie Clock 5.1 is introducing "location aware" movie theater check-in for a more social movie going experience.

Movie Clock is the first and only app to allow simple social interaction over various networks with a focus on upcoming movies. A single tap allows users to 'check-in' to upcoming films and interact with friends and followers around the globe. Location awareness features use the device GPS to pinpoint users in the theater they are watching the movie.

Users can easily search the extensive Movie Clock database for their favorite upcoming movie and set an alert to remind them on the film's day of release in theater or on home media. After being reminded to buy tickets via the app, Movie Clock allows users to connect at the theater in revolutionary ways.

Eric English, President of FlickDirect Inc. and lead developer, has enjoyed helping movie fans connect on a global scale with Movie Clock. "The feedback we get from the app has been great." he said. "By far the most requested feature has been home media release dates and we're introducing that today in Movie Clock 5.1"

"It's also fun to watch how many people are checking-in to the movies using the app. With the new location awareness features we hope to expand the social aspects of the app to connect fans watching the movie in the same theater before the show starts." added English.

Nathan Rose, CEO of FlickDirect and avid app user said "I'm really excited to see the home media release dates being added to Movie Clock. I've always wanted an app to remind me when films come out on Blu-ray and now we've developed just that."

"Also by connecting people with the theaters they are in when they check in with the app, we hope to give theater goers a better experience by offering coupons for concessions and other bonus features."

Once checked-in, users will be able to see how many others around the world are counting down with them and connect with new friends and followers on facebook and twitter.

Other extended features of Movie Clock include the ability to find show times for local theaters based on your GPS coordinates, in-app ticket purchasing and streaming movie trailers.

Movie Clock has a growing database of Movies with current release dates up to 2015. FlickDirect strives to include every movie regardless of genre. "If it's not there, just ask. I'll add it in personally!" Said Rose.

Previous versions of Movie Clock were named one of the Top 9 Movie Apps of 2011 by NextMovie.com and have been featured in iTunes "Whats Hot-> Entertainment" category.

Movie Clock is available on the Apple iTunes app store in a full and lite version. 'Movie Clock' and 'Movie Clock Lite', respectively. The lite version has a limited feature set but allows an in app upgrade to bring the functionality up to par with the full paid version.

Star Wars Spoof: Space Robots in Outer Space Ep X: Battle for the Halcyon: The Last Starcruiser

Published

Sure, Star Wars is cool and all. But let’s not forget about that other multi-part sci-fi cinematic spectacular, “Space Robots in Outer Space.” In fact, Hank Lonely (Hollywood’s ultimate hyphenate — actor / producer / director / writer / guy who makes sure the Porto Potties are kept squeaky-clean) just announced that there’ll soon be a 10th installment of this … Well, not exactly beloved. How about we say “admired from afar” instead? … series coming to a theater near you. In fact, here’s the highly anticipated teaser trailer for that project. Which is supposed to be titled “Space Robots in Outer Space X — Battle for the Halycon: The Last Starcruiser.”

Okay. Now the real story … In honor of Star Wars Day (i.e., May 4th. As in “May the Fourth Be With You”), Len Testa and I are sharing something that we produced with the help of all the nice folks who joined us last month aboard the Halycon.

We turned the Galactic Starcruiser as well as Black Spire Outpost into the backdrop for an affectionate send-up of all things Stars Wars. We hope that you (more importantly, the legal team at Lucasfilm) take this faux trailer in the spirit with which it was intended. Special thanks to Aaron Adams for so skillfully stitching all of this footage together. Also thanks to the team at Storybook Destinations, Touring Plans and the talented cast & crew aboard the “Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser” for making this “Disney Dish” fan event so memorable.
